GET READY!

Malin

Hi everyone, my name is Malin and I’m a part of this great team consisting of myself, Aay, Åshild, Mari and Eirik. I can’t believe it’s been over a year now since I met Aay for the first time. Early last year I spent a total of six months at Openminds center in Nong Khai in northeastern Thailand. I taught English to two young monks, helped with social media and taught English along with a teacher in one of the local schools. What made me go to Openminds center in the first place was because of the fact that it is an organization that was founded and is led by local people. For me that was essential. I met a lot of beautiful people during my stay and I learned a lot from all of them.

Aay was there to improve his English and work alongside international volunteers. After being invited to his home and family on the countryside in Laos and after hearing about his amazing idea about how to develop his village I supported him right away. And so did my Norwegian friends Åshild and Mari, and later also Eirik.

Aay's cousin and his friends

The reason I truly believe that Aay’s village will be a great project is because even though we are four determined Scandinavians who are good at planning and able to spread the word about Aay and his village, this is no one’s but Aay’s project. Aay came up with the idea and Aay’s is making it happen. This year. This month. He has already started his first English lessons at the center and in just a few days we will launch the website that will let the world know about it.

I hope you are all just as excited as we are to follow this journey in Aay’s village. And of course - to see our website that the talented computer geeky part of the team - Eirik and Åshild - have made.

If you have any questions or want to know more about the learning center don’t hesitate to contact any of us and we’ll be happy to help.

Hugs and kisses from the late summer in Sweden,

Malin
